Judges Comments:
#1 A pleasing closeup of the stamen and stigma of a white lily blossom. The center of interest is in sharp focus, and there is enough detail in the background to give context to the image. The image also benefits from the flat lighting conditions with soft shadows helping the impact of the image. As much as the flat lighting helped the image, it did not help that the tip of the stigma is lost in the background. This loss of detail (separation from the background) held this judge's eye, reducing the impact of a technically excellent image.
