Total judging points: 24
Judge's Comments:
1. This is a good, strong image of the creek at the Arboretum in autumn. The image is sharp, while the 1/8 second shutter speed creates movement in the water. The flow of the water (left-to-right) carries the viewer's eye out of the image. This judge suggest flipping the image horizontally to keep the viewer's eye in this very good image. (Try it...see if it "works.")
2. I love how this composition (and the photographer’s choice of a slow shutter speed) portray the energy of moving water juxtaposed against the stillness of the floating leaves. I might have enjoyed this image even more if it were cropped a bit tighter, eliminating the left half of the image, which seems a bit messy. Trimming out that part of the photo would make the remaining composition cleaner and allow the “juxtaposition” element to become more prominent.
