Total judging points: 21
Judge's Comments:
1. The tack-sharp seed pod of the heart's-a-bustin' is the center of this image. This judge recommends tight cropping around this center-of-interest and cloning out distracting elements such as stray plant branches. Excellent focus, as stated, and good exposure are the strengths of this image as presented.
2. To me, this image oozes succulence, particularly in the implied moistness on the red leaves of the fruit. The focus looks good, and there’s enough bokeh to create a pleasing background if the image were cropped more tightly to reduce the prominence of the leaf cluster to the left, the small gray branchlet below, and the green bud branchlet to the right. As composed here, the size and the brightness of the leaves to the left, and the intrusion of the extraneous branchlets, keep drawing my attention away from the star of the show. The berries are just lovely and deserve to be enjoyed entirely on their own.
