Judge's Comments:
#1 There is a lot in this image, ornamental dogwood blooms, a bush (midrange left), a sculpture (background), a tree (background right), and six small pink flowers in the background under the dogwood blossoms. If the dogwood blossoms are the intended center of interest, the photographer should have moved in (physically or by zoom) to focus the viewer's attention on the blossoms and to eliminate the distracting elements of the image.
#2 Good separation of foreground and background. I really like this image.
#3 This image has potential but needs a different setting due to the background. It is not possible to crop this image to make the flowers on the right stand out but they appear to be the subject as they are in focus. The flowers and leaves on the left are a distraction. The bigger distraction that takes away from the flowers in focus is the pull to the spider leg object behind the flowers. That object needs to be blurred out. Repositioning the shot for the flowers might have been the best option.
#4 Beautiful kousa dogwood blooms. The background competes with the kousa subject. Focusing closer on the right flower group and blurring the background would improve the image.
